As the consultant for The Learning Disabilities Association Montreal Chapter 1, she designs and facilitates numerous workshops, groups and programs for parents, children, teens, young adults and adults, living with AD/HD, learning disabilities, ODD and aspergers. Since 1996, she has worked with over 150 families a year. She facilitates 3 parent groups a week and 4 family social skills groups on the weekends.
She specializes in placing the changing of behaviors directly into the hands of adults who care for the children. Empowerment of parents and teachers is Linda’s passion... she brings out the best in adults, so they can bring out the best in children.
By acquiring specific methods for stopping children's difficult behavior, parents and teachers develop new skills, new self-esteem, and often unimagined success. She helps parents experience significant relief at home, by ending the nagging, arguing, and conflict.
Mother of Two
Parenting a child with special needs is laden with fluctuating highs and lows that contribute to numerous joys and challenges. Using Richard Lavoie’s image of a waterbed as a metaphor for the impact and instability that ADHD, learning disabilities and special needs has on family- “If one person on the bed shifts, everyone feels it. If one member of the family has special needs, it affects everyone.”
As an adoptive mom of two special needs children, my successful son and resilient daughter, that waterbed has been in constant motion, at their every developmental stage. Over the past sixteen years, it has affected everyone in the family and has transformed our family life enormously.
In my quest to become a more “attuned, nurturing and connective mom” my journey propelled me to acquire training in various “new” parenting approaches, that promote attachment and increase my children’s inner strength. Nurturance, acceptance, appreciation, recognition, positivity and pizazz are my loving tools to enhance our parent-child connection.
Today, they are amazing, loving young adults and these skills remain my blueprint for success, enriching our relationships and their inner wealth. In reflection, my kids have been my growth gift, and I am blessed to have them in my life.
My Mission
All children and especially those with ADHD/LD and special needs, experience cloudy days, due to low self esteem, academic, social and emotional difficulties. These children carry more uncertainty and less hope manoeuvring through their daily tasks. Our connection, as parents, is essential now more than ever for their wellbeing. Children need nourishment from the inside out, making them stronger and better able to handle life's challenges.
My goal is to educate and support parents with a new "strength based" parenting method that delivers energy and positive messages from the heart of the parent directly into the heart of their child. Parents quickly learn a new "heartfelt" language, a nutritious vacabulary of positivity, the art of playful pizazz and quick, safe resets, which repair and increase connection. Get ready for immediate results, enhancing respectful, loving, parent-child relationships and creating peaceful and successful homes.
No GREATERer Teacher is YOU, the Parent, and your Child is Your GREATest Growth Gift!
